Shreveport Sports second baseman Brandon Haygood led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a home run over the leftfield fence that gave the Sports a 2-1 victory over the Pensacola Pelicans at Fair Grounds Field Saturday. It was Haygood's first pro home run as he just joined the Sports two weeks ago from Louisiana Tech.

The Sports had taken a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a ground out by Nick Kurhan that allowed Chad Gambill to score from second base. However, Pensacola came back to tie the game in the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk to George Branch.

John Vigue pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief to pick up the victory as Shreveport held Pensacola to just two hits.

The Sports and Pensacola will conclude the three-game series Sunday afternoon at 2:05.
