SPORTING KC TO TRAIN IN LAWRENCE THIS AFTERNOON

Sporting Kansas City will hold a special training session at 2 p.m. today in Lawrence, Kan. for fans. Players will be walking to the women's soccer field at 1:45 p.m. CT from the KU Memorial Union and Daisy Hill and will train from 2-3:15 p.m. CT. The sessions is free and open to the public.

Following the training session, the team will join fans at Johnny's Tavern (401 North 2nd Street, Lawrence, KS) for an after party at 4:30 p.m. CT.

SETH SINOVIC UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY TO REPAIR FRACTURED HAND

Defender Seth Sinovic underwent a successful operation to repair his fractured right hand yesterday at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Sinovic injured his hand in last week's loss to the Portland Timbers. Sinovic is expected to be out for less than two weeks.

SPORTING KC DROPS 1-0 RESERVE LEAGUE LOSS TO COLORADO

The Colorado Rapids defeated Sporting Kansas City 1-0 on Tuesday in MLS Reserve League action at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park. Andre Akpan's goal in the 84th minute off a Wells Thompson assist secured the victory for the visitors, who were reduced to 10-men late in the first half following Eddie Ababio's ejection.

NIELSEN RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENT PLAY FOR WEEK 7

Goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen's reaching save that stopped Vancouver's Camilo Sanvezzo from scoring off a well-placed shot in Wednesday's 3-1 victory has earned Nielsen a nomination for the MLS Save of the Week. Voting is open until 10:59 p.m. CT this Thursday.

Nielsen was also named to the MLS Team of the Week for his performances.

SPORTING KC DEFEATS VANCOUVER, FALLS TO PORTLAND

Sporting Kansas City (7-1-0) returns home to Kansas City for a much needed break following their two-game road trip to Vancouver and Portland. Sporting Kansas City notched a 3-1 victory over Vancouver with goals scored by Aurelien Collin, Kei Kamara and an own goal from Whitecaps FC player Martin Bonjour. Sporting Kansas City then traveled south to Portland and fell to the Portland Timbers 1-0.

Sporting Kansas City remains atop the MLS Power Rankings and are proving to be a difficult team to beat. The team will enjoy a full week without a game before facing the Montreal Impact at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday, May 5. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or at the LSP Box Offices.

Sporting Kansas City & the Heartland Soccer Association are partnering for the third consecutive year to bring exclusive opportunities to the 2012 Kansas City Invitational Tournament hosted at the Overland Park Soccer Complex on May 25-28. All participating teams will receive special ticket rates for Sporting Kansas City's match against the San Jose Earthquakes on May 27, plus U13-U19 teams will have the chance to play a tournament game at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park!

MAKE IT 'APPEN: DESIGN A SPORTING KC APP AND WIN SEASON TICKETS

Sporting Kansas City announced a one-of-a-kind opportunity for amateur developers. Sporting Kansas City needs your ideas for a game or app associated with soccer that can be played on a mobile device. The creator of the winning idea will receive two Sporting Kansas City Season Tickets for the 2013 season and on-field recognition at a Sporting KC match.

To submit an entry, visit SportingMembership.com/AppContest and complete the online application form at the bottom of the page. The deadline to submit entries is midnight on Monday, June 3.

All entries will be reviewed by a panel (comprised of Sporting Kansas City front office personnel) to determine up to four finalists. Finalists will be determined by Monday, June 25. Each finalist will then have the opportunity to pitch their idea in person to this panel. The winner will be announced at the July 21 Sporting KC match vs. New England Revolution.

JOIN THE SPORTING KANSAS CITY GOLF LEAGUE

The Sporting Kansas City Golf League will continue this year at the Painted Hills Golf Course from May 1- June 26. The league is open to golfers of all experience levels, with an entry fee of $50 per person. The cost includes an end of league party and two tickets to a Sporting Kansas City match.

There is a weekly cost of $25 per person, that includes a 9-Hole Green Fee, a golf cart and drink ticket.

SPORTING KC LAUNCHES GOAL FOR GILLIS

Sporting Kansas City has partnered with Gillis to launch Goals for Gillis, a program that will raise money to help at-risk children and families with every goal Sporting Kansas City scores throughout the 2012 season.

Fans can participate by making a pledge starting at $1 for every goal that Sporting Kansas City scores during the 2012 season. The top four Goals for Gillis fundraisers will be recognized online and at a special event with Heineman and Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara after the completion of the 2012 season. Those pledging at least $5 per goal by April 30 will be entered to win an autographed, one-of-a-kind portrait of Kamara by local artist Jeffrey Barge .

Sporting Kansas City and the Sporting Kansas City Juniors youth development academy will again offer a series of youth soccer camps in 2012 for boys and girls of all ages. Please see the list of scheduled camps below:

Pre-Tryout Camp : June 4-6 for U11-U14 boys ($130)

Boys & Girls Development Camp : June 18-20 for boys and girls ages 8-12 ($130)
