Spokane Signs WR Thomas Shuler
September 7, 2016 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Spokane Empire News Release
SPOKANE, Washington- The Empire has signed wide receiver Thomas "Tommy" Shuler to their 2017 IFL roster.
Shuler (6-0, 195, Marshall) joins the Empire for his rookie season as a member of the IFL. Tommy most recently spent time with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. He played his collegiate career at Marshall University (WV) where he finished as one of the most productive receivers in college football history. His 322 career receptions rank fourth all-time in the NCAA while he added 3,563 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. At the conclusion of his senior season (2014), he was one of only eight receivers in NCAA history to record multiple 100-catch seasons (110 in 2012; 106 in 2013). He was also a three-time All-Conference USA selection. Tommy played his prep career at Miami Central High School (FL).
"Tommy is a great pass catcher that runs solid routes whether it's against man or zone coverage," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "You don't catch as many passes in college as he did without being a complete receiver and that's the reason he's gotten looks from CFL scouts. We're looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table in training camp."
