Windsor Spitfires News Release

The Spitfires could not solve the high flying 67s and lost in Ottawa by a score of 6-1.

In the first period, the 67s struck first just over four minutes into the game. A failed clearance turned into an opportunity in the slot for the 67s and they converted on it. The 67s would score 2 more times through the period and have a commanding 3-0 lead.

In the second period, Spitfires Captain Maggio would score his 44th of the season just 34 seconds in to make it a 3-1 game. The Spitfires would score again but it was called off as the play was called offside by the linesman indicating the puck went out of the zone (but it didn't fully cross the line) and the Spitfires were robbed a goal. The Maggio tally would be the lone goal of the period. The Spitfires trailed in shots 29-23 after 2 periods.

In the third period, the Spitfires would have an early powerplay opportunity, but nothing came of it. The 67s would add 3 goals and take this one 6-1.

The Spitfires would drop their 3rd game in a row.

The Spitfires are back in action on Sunday in Kingston. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:05pm.
