Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires were coming off a big win over the Soo Greyhounds by a score of 6-4 just yesterday afternoon. The Knights were waiting in the wings for the Spitfires as they had the day off yesterday and the Spitfires were heading into their third game in 48 hours.
In the first period, it was a back and forth battle. The Spitfires struck first as Martin stepped in over the blue line and sniped his 5th on the season. The Knights would respond with two goals in a minute and a half with one coming shorthanded to take a 2-1 lead. A minute and a half later, Abraham tied the game at 2 on as penalty shot as he had a chance to score but was hooked up. In the final minute of the period, the Knights would score to go up 3-2 heading into the break.
In the second period, it was all Knights as they would add on 3 more goals, unanswered. The Spitfires wheels were falling off after a lot of hockey and a total of 6, 3 in 3 weekends throughout the season. The Knights led 6-2 heading into the third period.
In the third period, it would be a slow and uneventful period. The Knights would grab another shorthanded goal and take a 7-2 lead. That would do it as the Knights would coast into a big win over the Spitfires.
The Spitfires are back in action on Friday in Guelph. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
