Washington Spirit News Release
Washington, D.C. - Karina Rodriguez has once again been called up to the Mexico women's national football team, the organization announced this week. Rodriguez was recently called up to the national team in June.
Next month, Mexico will head to southern California for two friendlies. On Friday, September 2, the side will face New Zealand in an international friendly in Carson before taking on Angel City FC on Labor Day in the inaugural Copa Angelina at Banc of California Stadium. During this summer's Concacaf Women's Championship, Mexico finished group play with a 0-3-0 record and did not advance to the knockout stage.
Originally from Torrance, California, Rodriguez attended UCLA and played four seasons with the Bruins before signing with the Spirit in June 2021. As a senior at UCLA, Rodriguez earned First Team All-Pac-12 and All-Region nods. Prior to joining the Mexican national team, Rodriguez competed for several United States youth national teams.
