February 6, 2004 - National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) - Springfield Spirit News Release

West Springfield, February 5, 2004 – Springfield Spirit President and Owner Stephen Fox is pleased to announce that the Springfield Spirit has signed 6’2’’ forward, from Montana State University, Isabel Stubbs.

Stephen Fox stated, “Isabel has a real scorer’s mentality, with an excellent right-hand hook that’s difficult to stop. She is very quick up and down the court and has an extremely quick first step. We are very happy to have Isabel joining the Spirit.”

Isabel was named the Most Valuable Player of the Big Sky Conference in 2003 and earned first-team All-Big Sky honors. Isabel had a conference-leading 10 games where she scored 20 or more points, as well as 11 games of 10 or more rebounds. Isabel had 11 double-doubles her senior year and twice was conference Player of the Week. In her senior year she was second in the Big Sky Conference in scoring (16.1), fourth in rebounding (8.4) and fourth in field goal percentage (.493).

The Springfield Spirit and its new member Isabel Stubbs are set to take on the visiting Birmingham Power on Sunday February 8th on the campus of Central Connecticut State University at 6pm. Tickets for the 2004 season may also be purchased on line at www.ticketmaster.com tickets costs at CCSU are $20, $15, and $10 for adults and $12 and $10 for juniors under 18. At Cathedral H/S the tickets are $15 and $12 for adults and $10 for Junior under 18.

Kristen McCory has decided to retire from the Springfield Spirit in order to focus more of her attention on her career of interior design effective as of the game on January 31st.

The Springfield Spirit has also waived Yaschico Stevens.
