State College Spikes News Release

SPIKES HOST JAMMERS TONIGHT: The State College Spikes continue their third seven-game homestand of the year with the first game of a two-game set against the Jamestown Jammers tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The two teams split a doubleheader at Russell Diethrick Park in Jamestown just three nights ago, with the Spikes taking the first game and the Jammers the second game. State College is 3-2 on the year against Jamestown, and the Jammers have the all-time series lead, 20-15.

-LAST NIGHT: Justin Byler's three-run homer in the first inning gave the Spikes a lead they would not relinquish in an 8-5 win over the Auburn Doubledays at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The win put the Spikes back over the .500 mark after being five games under on July 22, and gave the Spikes a two-game series sweep. Byler ended the game 2-for-4 with three RBI. Evan Chambers, Aaron Baker, and Butch Biela also had multi-hit games.

-SPIKES SEND PAULINO TO MOUND: Right-hander Ricardo Paulino gets his fifth start of the year for State College tonight. In nine total appearances, Paulino has struck out 26 batters and walked just seven. Last time out, the Dominican Republic native went four innings in relief of Jason Erickson at Auburn on Tuesday night. Paulino allowed two runs, both on solo home runs, and did not receive a decision.

-JAMMERS BRING ROSARIO BACK: Right-hander Sandy Rosario makes his second start of the year against the Spikes tonight for Jamestown. Rosario has made a total of eight starts on the year, and did not allow a run over his first 12 2/3 innings of the season. Rosario pitched five shutout innings in his last time out against the Spikes, allowing just two hits and striking out seven batters.

-SUMMER BLAST-OFF SUNDAY AT THE PARK: It's a fun-filled night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on a Summer Blast-Off Sunday, with a spectacular postgame fireworks display, Kids Run the Bases after the game, a Pre-Game Catch on the Field. Plus, it's Renew Your Vows at the Ballpark Night after the game, and it's also Bellefonte Community Night.
