SPHL Announces Pair of Suspensions

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced it has suspended Mississippi Surge goaltender Kiefer Smiley five games and Pensacola goaltender Ross MacKinnon one game for their roles in an altercation after the conclusion of their game on Saturday, November 10.

At the 20:00 mark of the third period, Smiley was assessed a major penalty for fighting, a game misconduct for fighting outside periods of play and a game misconduct for leaving the players' bench. MacKinnon was assessed a major penalty for fighting and a game misconduct for fighting outside periods of play.

Smiley will miss Mississippi's game against Mississippi (RiverKings) on November 16, Huntsville on November 17, Louisiana on November 18 and 23 and Columbus on November 21. MacKinnon will miss Pensacola's game against Augusta on November 15.
