SPHL Announces 10th Anniversary Schedule, Logo

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that it will drop the puck for the 2013-2014 regular season on Friday, October 25 with four games scheduled.
Opening Night features a clash of expansion teams as the Bloomington Thunder host the Peoria Rivermen in the first game of a home-and-home series. The defending President's Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Flyers begin their title defense as they host the Columbus Cottonmouths, while Fayetteville welcomes Huntsville as the Havoc travel to Crown Coliseum to take on the FireAntz. Finally, the Mississippi Surge host the arch-rival Louisiana IceGators in a battle of I-10 teams.
On Saturday, Columbus returns home to welcome the Knoxville Ice Bears while the Mississippi RiverKings kick off their season by hosting Louisiana. Peoria returns the favor as host on Saturday as Bloomington makes the short trip down I-74 to face the Rivermen.
On Friday, November 1, Knoxville kicks off their home schedule against Pensacola while the Louisiana IceGators welcome the Mississippi Surge to the Cajundome.
Finally, the Huntsville Havoc return home on Friday, November 8 as they welcome Peoria to the deep South.
In addition to the schedule, the SPHL released a special logo commemorating its milestone tenth season designed by Keith Flynn of Flynnagain Productions. Flynnagain Productions, based in Mississauga, Ontario, is owned and operated by Keith Flynn, primary creator, and Colleen Flynn, manager. The company began in April 1997 with their first client being the Cincinnati Cyclones of the International Hockey League. Over time, the company has created many logo and uniform designs for teams across North America.
Again this season, each of the nine teams will play a 56-game schedule (28 home, 28 road), concluding with the awarding of the President's Cup in April to the 2014 SPHL Champions. The complete schedule will be available as a PDF document on the SPHL website (www.thesphl.com).
