February 26, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
La Crosse Spartans News Release

La Crosse, WI: The day has finally come for the La Crosse Spartans, as their inaugural 2010 campaign kicks off this evening against the Wichita Wild. After months of preparation that included lease negotiations, player signings, hiring of staff, and plenty more, the team will finally take the field for their first meaningful game in team history. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from the Hartman Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

Tonight marks the official beginning of the 2010 Indoor Football League season, with a total of five games being scheduled for this weekend. "Everyone starts with a clean slate," stated Co-Owner and General Manager Chris Kokalis. "We have a tough first test tonight against the Wild, but our guys are ready to play. Tonight should be an intense battle."

In 2009, the Wichita Wild finished the regular season 8-6 and reached the United Conference Championship game, eventually falling to the RiverCity Rage. Spartans ball hawking Linebacker, Blake Freese will be counted on to neutralize a Wild offense that averaged 45.1 points per game last season. They are lead by three of last season's Player of the Year candidates in Quarterback Dixie Wooten, Running back Darius Fudge (2009 IFL Rookie of the Year), and Wide Receiver Clinton Solomon.

Fans who want to watch the game, can log onto www.b2tv.com and purchase a season pass to view each of the 14 Spartan regular season games. Also, KQ98 will be covering each contest this season as well, and fans can stream the games live by logging onto www.kq98.com. The Spartans will play their first home game at the La Crosse Center on April 3rd at 7:30 p.m.
