Sox Release 1B Nichols, RHP Wilson

The Amarillo Sox have released first baseman Kyle Nichols and right-handed pitcher Brad Wilson in preparation for the 2014 season.

Nichols was acquired by Amarillo last year in a late-season trade with the Kansas City T-Bones. In 18 games Nichols had a .319 batting average, 6 home runs, and 16 RBI. Nichols has been in independent baseball since 2006 after spending parts of five seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds, and Philadelphia Philles organizations.

Brad Wilson appeared in 9 games, starting 8 for the Sox last season. He posted a 4-3 record with a 3.04 ERA. Wilson made his independent baseball debut for the Sox in 2013, after spending the 2009-11 seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks organizations.
