Sox add two to front office

The Amarillo Sox have hired Russell Johnson to be the new Assistant General Manager and Adam Cox to be the new Director of Sales and Marketing. Both are Amarillo natives, with Johnson being a graduate of Caprock High School and Cox a graduate of Amarillo High School.

Johnson had served as the Promotions Director for KGNC Radio since 1998. He has also worked for Amarillo baseball for several years, both as a groundskeeper and as the official scorer since 2012. He is the husband of former Sox Assistant GM Jaylin Johnson.

Cox has spent the last ten years in news and sports broadcasting. He has also worked as the public address announcer for Amarillo baseball since 2009.

The two will be introduced by General Manager Mark Lee at a press conference at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at the Amarillo Sox office at 801 S. Polk. The Sox will also be discussing the upcoming season, which begins May 15 when Amarillo hosts Winnipeg to open the 2014 campaign.
