Waldorf, Md. - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at Regency Furniture Stadium.

In the fourth inning, D'Arby Myers scored on a Ducks throwing error, giving the Blue Crabs a 1-0 lead. Southern Maryland's Alfredo Marte hit a solo home run in the seventh, giving the Blue Crabs a 2-0 advantage. In the ninth, Blue Crabs closer Cody Eppley retired the Ducks in order, marring any Long Island comeback.

Brian Grening (5-4) earned the win, tossing six and two-thirds scoreless innings. The right-hander struck out five, allowing just three hits and two walks. Dustin Richardson (1-1) took the hard-luck loss, yielding one unearned run on two hits with three strikeouts in five innings. Eppley collected his 17th save with a perfect ninth.
