South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, Indiana (November 13, 2013)- Your Eastern Division champions of the Midwest League, South Bend Silver Hawks, want to give thanks this season to troops serving the country. The Silver Hawks are asking fans to help send messages of appreciation. A template with the Silver Hawks' mascot, Swoop, has been created for the community to decorate and write a special message to troops. The letters collected from the community will be sent to the organization A Million Thanks, which mails the letters to military that are active, reserve, or a veteran, serving at home, abroad, or are injured in hospitals. For every letter received the Silver Hawks will donate two tickets to a local military person to attend the Memorial Day game on May 26th.
Those who wish to participate must mail their letter to the Silver Hawks' Front Office by November 25, 2013. To get started, decorate the Swoop template, which can be found on the Silver Hawks' website SilverHawks.com, and write what you are thankful for. Color and decorate Swoop as creatively as you like, give thanks to the Troops, talk about you, and let them know their service does not go unnoticed. Only include positive messages. Any negative messages will be discarded. Include your address or email address if you wish, most military will write back to you. Address your letter to South Bend Silver Hawks and send to 501 W. South St., South Bend, IN 46601.
