Seattle Sounders News Release

The defending USL-1 champion Seattle Sounders, announce today the signings of Seattle University standouts Jason Cascio and John Fishbaugher for the 2008 season.

The upcoming season is their first with the side after graduating from SU in 2007.

"They're good soccer players. They're young, great athletes, and were trained very well at Seattle University", Coach Schmetzer said. "We're very excited to have John and Jason with us for the 2008 season."

Though a defender, Jason Cascio is a fast, dynamic player and not a stranger to scoring goals. In his final two seasons with the Redhawks, he tallied 29 goals, 16 of which came in the 2006 season that saw him awarded GNAC player of the year. The Gilbert, Arizona native was the recipient of GNAC honors three out of his fours years in college and was a three sport athlete in high school.

John Fishbaugher was a 2007 First Team All-American capping a career as a four year starter and leader of the Redhawks midfield and defense. Fishbaugher brings leadership and versatility to the defending champions and should fit in well with the squad. Fishbaugher was named to the All-Region team in 2006 and was a GNAC honorable mention in 2005. As a senior at Redmond High School, he was First Team All-State.

Both players were members of the SU side that won the 2004 NCAA Division II national championship.

The Sounders home opener is May 10th at Qwest field against the Portland Timbers.
