Sounders Hit The Road This Week

(Seattle, Wash.) - - The Seattle Sounders hit the road on a week-long road trip, playing three matches in five days, heading to Eastern Canada and New York to face-off with Montreal, Rochester and Toronto. With back-to-back wins over the Portland Timbers the Sounders jumped from 10th place into three way tie for 4th place in the USL First Division. The Sounders are 5-1-1 over their last seven league matches with their only loss coming against the Montreal Impact on July 15th.

In another physical series between the Sounders and Timbers, the Seattle side gained a needed six points to remain in the playoff hunt. Scoring in both matches, Forward Cam Weaver padded his position as the league's leading goal scorer with goal numbers, 12 and 13. Missing the first 17 matches of the season due to injury, Forward Maykel Galindo saw his first regular season action against Portland, netting one goal and earning an assist in just 67 minutes of work off the bench.

ABOUT MONTREAL IMPACT

The Sounders begin their three game road trip against the first place Montreal Impact on Wednesday, July 26th at Claude Robillard Sports Complex. Montreal (9-2-5, 32 pts) features one of the best back lines in the league having allowed only eight goals in 16 matches. The Impact recently snapped a 12-game winning streak with a loss to Minnesota on July 21st. The Impact are flawless at home with a 5-0-3 record and have outscored opponents 13-2. Fans can listen live, kick off is set for 4:30pm.

ABOUT ROCHESTER RAGING RHINOS

Seattle then travels to Rochester to take on the Raging Rhinos Friday, July 28th in the new PAETEC Park. Tied for third place in USL First Division, Rochester is 2-1-1 over their last four matches at home. Earlier this season the Sounders fell to the Raging Rhinos 2-1 at Qwest Field on a stoppage time goal. Weaver scored in the 85th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Fans can watch the Sounders and Raging Rhinos live on Fox Soccer Channel at 5pm, or listen live online at 5pm.

ABOUT TORONTO LYNX

The Sounders play their final match of the road trip in Toronto against a Lynx squad who are 3-1-1 in their last four matches. Despite their recent success the Lynx remain at the bottom of the table with a record of 3-10-3, 12pts. With a 3-3-1 record at home, Toronto has been outscored 5-4 at home. The Sounders are 4-1-0 all time against Toronto, including a 2-1 win in Seattle on May 20th. The Sounders and Lynx square off on Sunday, July 30th at 3pm at Centennial Stadium.

The Sounders return home after their final long road trip of the season on August 11th to face the Virginia Beach Mariners. The Sounders have one final road match against the Vancouver Whitecaps on September 8th. AUGUST 11th MATCH - VENUE CHANGED FROM QWEST FIELD TO STARFIRE SPORTS COMPLEX

With the recent announcement of an exhibition match in Seattle between world powerhouse Real Madrid and Major League Soccer's D.C. United on Wed., August 9th at Qwest Field the Seattle Sounders have relocated the August 11th match to Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Wash. Grass will be installed for the Real Madrid match which will need to be removed before the Seattle Seahawks first pre-season game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, August 12th also at Qwest Field. KEEL RETURNS FOR ROAD TRIP EAST

Defender Stephen Keel from the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer rejoins the Sounders on loan for the team's three-game road trip east. Keel, loaned to the Sounders in late June along with Jordan Harvey, has played in six matches with Seattle this season and scored a goal against Miami on June 18th. Both Harvey and Keel returned to Colorado in early July for matches with the Rapids Reserve squad. Both players will suit up for the Sounders through the road trip, Harvey rejoined the Sounders prior to the Portland series last weekend.

INJURY & SUSPENSION REPORT: ABOLAJI SERVING ONE GAME SUSPENSION

Sounder defender Seyi Abolaji is scheduled to serve a league imposed one game league suspension for accumulating five yellow card cautions through 16 matches this season. Abolaji reached the five card benchmark against the Portland Timbers on July 21st in Portland. Abolaji will serve his suspension during the game in Montreal.

Midfielder C.J. Klaas is now eligible for play after serving a five match suspension for conduct detrimental to the team earlier this month.

Defender Zach Scott continues to make progress after his surgery to remove access scar tissue from his foot and ankle. He is expected to return late August.
