Sounders Defender Jackson To Have Knee Surgery Tomorrow
April 13, 2006 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Seattle Sounders News Release
(Seattle, WA) - Seattle Sounders central defender Danny Jackson will have surgery on his left knee Friday morning to repair a torn meniscus suffered last Saturday in a pre-season game against Gonzaga University, it was announced today.
Dr. Mike Morris of Virginia Mason Medical Center will perform the nediameniscectomy surgery Friday, April 14th at 7am.
''We're obviously disappointed to lose Danny for a few weeks,'' said Brian Schmezter, head coach of the Sounders. ''I'm confident that Dr. Morris' expertise and Virginia Mason will help him heal quickly.''
Nearly one year to the day, Jackson suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during pre-season; an injury that sidelined him for the entire year. Unlike last year's injury, Jackson's recovery time is approximately two to four weeks.
Jackson could be ready to play in the Sounders Home Opener on May 13th against the Minnesota Thunder at Qwest Field at 7pm. For ticket information, please visit www.seattlesounders.net or call (206) 622-3415.
