Sound Honors Student Winners
August 1, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Strong Island Sound News Release
Patchogue, NY- Jason McMullin and Michael Pannhorst, two students at Long Island's William Floyd High School, were honored recently as the two winners of the Strong Island Sound Scholarship Award. In order to receive this acknowledgement, they had to show outstanding achievement in a Sports Marketing or Management cirriculum.
Sound co-owner Darren Cioffi presented the awards to the hard working young men in June. "We are very proud of these fine young men," Cioffi said. "They are an asset not only to their school, but the community as a whole. We wish them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors, whether they are with us at the Strong Island Sound or any other team in any other industry."
In addition to being a student at WFHS, Pannhorst also has served as intern for the Sound in each of the team's first two seasons in the ABA.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
