Sound Come Up Big on Road, 109-97

March 10, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Strong Island Sound News Release

Newark, NJ- Coming off a defeat at the hands of the defending ABA champion Rochester RazorSharks only 24 hours earlier, the Strong Island Sound shook off the loss and the bus-lag by shutting down the Express at Essex College in Newark, 109-97.

With the victory, the Sound improved their season record to 19-13, trailing the 19-8 Wilmington Sea Dawgs by one game for the top spot in the Blue Central division. The Express have played with heart this season and have been in many of the games they have lost, but their 4-22 mark has them in last place.

The Sound have little rest with games the next two days. On Saturday at 7:05 pm, the 7-4 Brooklyn Comets come to Suffolk County Community College in Selden. The team that started the season as the Wonders has a new ownership group led by NBA player Elton Brand and has played much better since their reincarnation.

A Sunday matinee at 3 pm wraps up the home regular season schedule. The Newark Express will be the opponent, and look for another tight game between these two geographical rivals.

The Sound will finish up on Tuesday night at Newark, and will be announcing their playoff schedule shortly. A home game next weekend, with date and opponent to be determined, will be released soon.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
