Soul sign WR/LB Cornelius White

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul announced today they have signed WR/LB Cornelius White after the Chicago Rush released him earlier in the week. The Soul host the Rush tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. at the Wachovia Center. To make room on the roster, Philadelphia waived WR/LB Lamont Moore. As per club policy, terms of the deal was not disclosed.

White (6'0", 190, Virginia Tech) joins the Soul after playing with the Rush during the first 10 weeks of the season. He was the team's second leading receiver and caught 44 passes for 572 yards with nine touchdowns. On defense, he has tallied 25 total tackles, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He has also been named Offensive Player of the Game once this season.

In 2005, he was a member of the Columbus Destroyers and was named to the AFL's All-Ironman team after posting a career-high 91 catches for 1,135 yards and a team-leading 22 receiving touchdowns in 16 games. He also added 42 total tackles on defense with one forced fumble and one pass breakup.

The nine-year veteran has played in exactly 100 games in his career and has caught 135 passes for 5,549 yards with 100 touchdowns. On defense, he has tallied 230 total tackles, seven interceptions, 14 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and three fumbles recoveries.

The Soul return to the Wachovia Center tomorrow, April 11 when they host the Chicago Rush. Kickoff is set for 1p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports.
