TAMPA BAY - With the score tied at 43 the Storm couldn't overcome an Omarr Smith interception return for touchdown, and a safety recorded on a kickoff by Charles Pauley. The Tampa Bay Storm lost to the San Jose SaberCats, 43-52, in front of 14,566 fans in attendance at the St. Pete Times Forum Friday night. The loss drops Tampa Bay to 6-5. In the final minute of the first half Stafford hooked up with Lawrence Samuels for a four yard score. On the ensuing SaberCat drive, Samuels intercepted Grieb thwarting a San Jose score and returned the ball to the Storm 22-yard line. Stafford found Solomon all alone in the back of the end zone with three seconds left in the half to give the Storm back the lead, 23-21.
The SaberCats running game continued to be their bread and butter in the third quarter as they scored two more times via a Phil Glover four-yard run and a JaJuan Huddleston three-yard run.
