Soul sign former Eagles kicker Todd France and DS Aric Williams

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul have signed kicker Todd France and defensive specialist Aric Williams. As per club policy, terms of their deals were not disclosed.

France (6'3", 210, Toledo) stays in Philadelphia to kick for the Soul after a stint with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2005 season. He played in three games for the Eagles after David Akers went down with a hamstring injury. He converted 6-of-7 field goals and 5-of-5 extra points. Prior to joining the Eagles, France spent time with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings while making a stop in NFL Europe in 2003 with the Rhein Fire.

"Todd played really well for the Eagles and he should come in to camp ready to go," Coach Munsey said. "He has a lot of talent and he fills a hole on our team that we have been looking to address."

Williams (5'11", 172, Oregon State) joins the Soul for the 2006 season after going through training camp as an undrafted free agent with the Eagles. Prior to signing with the Eagles, he spent four years at Oregon State University where he was a standout cornerback. He played in 49 games for the Beavers and tallied 124 total tackles, 30 pass breakups, nine interceptions, four and a half tackles for losses, two forced fumbles and one sack. Williams was also a PAC-10 honorable mention during his senior season.

"Aric caught my eye while he was in training camp with the Eagles," Coach Munsey said. "He is going to join a veteran group in our secondary and is someone we are really excited about bringing in."

The Soul kickoff their third season in the AFL on January 29, 2006 when they host the Tampa Bay Storm at the Wachovia Center. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. Season tickets for the Soul's 2006 season are on sale now. Tickets start as low as $96.
