TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm will host the Orlando Predators in a preseason scrimmage on Wednesday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. The preview of the Arena Football League's most storied rivalry will be open to the public.
The two teams split the War on I-4 series in 2005 with each team winning in their own building. Tampa Bay downed Orlando 54-42 on April 9 at the St. Pete Times Forum en route to a record-setting undefeated season at home (8-0). The Storm leads the all-time series 19-18.
The Storm and Predators have combined for seven World Championships and 12 ArenaBowl appearances. The teams have met in the championship game twice and split the games with Tampa Bay winning ArenaBowl IX 48-35 at the ThunderDome in St. Petersburg, Florida and Orlando taking ArenaBowl XII in Tampa.
A handful of new Tampa Bay faces including WR/DB Bobby Sippio, K Bill Gramatica, OL/DL Aaron Hunt, former USF standout Huey Whittaker and others are expected to make their Storm debuts in game action during the scrimmage. Former Storm WR/DB and Tampa native Clif Dell signed with the Predators during the off-season and will face off against his old teammates.
The Storm's training camp opens January 6 as they begin the march for their AFL record 16th consecutive playoff appearance.
