Soul Place Seven on All-Arena Teams

August 1, 2019 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Seven Philadelphia Soul players were named to the Arena Football League's 2019 All-Arena teams, including three first-team selections.

Headlining those selections is reigning AFL Defensive Back of the Year James Romain. The league leader in interceptions, Romain earned first-team honors for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Of his eight picks, he returned three for touchdowns while recording a team-high 12 pass break-ups this season.

Joining Romain as First Team All-Arena are offensive lineman Neal Tivis and wide receiver Darius Prince. 2019 marks the first time that Tivis, who started every game as part of a line that allowed just four sacks this season, has been selected as a first teamer. Meanwhile, Prince earns the first-team nod for a second straight season. The receiver ranked third in receiving touchdowns (21) behind only fellow first-team selections Quentin Sims and Malachi Jones.

The Soul also had four players honored on the second team in fullback Adrian Ferns, center PK Manley, defensive end Sean Daniels, and defensive back Dwayne Hollis.

A first-time honoree, Ferns led all fullbacks with 12 rushing touchdowns and ranked second in yards. Meanwhile, Manley earned his second consecutive second-team selection playing alongside Tivis on the Soul's offensive line.

Defensively, Temple graduate Sean Daniels ranked second on the team with three sacks and earned the distinction of being the only player to take down Albany quarterback Tommy Grady this season. He was joined by Dwayne Hollis, whose five interceptions were tied for third in the league.

The full first and second team selections are attached while the schedule of remaining AFL awards can be found below. Players will be honored at the AFL Award Ceremony on August 10th. More details on the ceremony will be available shortly.

The Soul will be back in action this Sunday when the team takes on the Washington Valor in the second leg of their playoff series at the Wells Fargo Center. Fans can purchase tickets at www.philadelphiasoul.com/playoffs.
