Soul make training camp moves

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul have signed OS Michael Coleman, DS's Clarence Curry and Tony Okanlawon to go along with FB/LB Darnell Small. As per club policy, terms of their deals were not disclosed. The Soul have also placed OL/DL Jason Davis, OS Isaac West and DS Aric Williams on the exempt list and OL/DL Arnold Miller was placed on refuse to report. With the addition of these four players, the Soul's training camp roster is at 37 of the possible 37 spots available.

Coleman (5'11", 190, Widener) joins the Soul after spending the past four seasons in the NFL divided between the St. Louis Rams and the Atlanta Falcons. He was drafted by the Falcons with the 217th overall selection of the 2002 NFL Draft. Prior to his professional career, Coleman spent his collegiate career at Widener University. He is currently the school record holder in yards-per-receptions in a game (56.7), season (27.7) and career (23.4), 100-yard games in a season (7), touchdown receptions in a game (3), season (18) and career (44).

Curry (6'1", 210, Villanova) comes back to the Philadelphia area where he played his college football at Villanova. After being a second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection his senior season, he went on to play in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals before being allocated to NFL Europe to play for the Rhein Fire. The former Wildcat tallied 112 total tackles, 29 pass breakups and five interceptions in his career.

Okanlawon (5'11", 187, Maryland) enters his first year in the AFL after playing for the San Diego Chargers from 2002-2004. He was active for one game and fluctuated from the practice squad and injured reserve. He spent his college days at Maryland and recorded 141 total tackles, six interceptions and 26 deflections.

Small (5'11", 260, Nichols State) makes the jump back to the AFL after spending the majority of the last five seasons in af2 with the Arkansas Twisters. He is the Twisters career leader in rushes (198), rushing yards (869) and touchdowns (46). He also holds or shares nearly every season and game rushing record. He played in the AFL for a short time with the Colorado Crush in 2003 and with the Buffalo Destroyers in 2001.

Davis, West and Williams have signed with the Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins respectively. Also, Miller is starting his own business venture and has decided to take time off from his football career.

The Soul kickoff their third season in the AFL on January 29, 2006 when they host the Tampa Bay Storm at the Wachovia Center.
