Chicago Rush News Release

Rush owner Mike Ditka was in the stands watching as the 2006 Chicago Rush took the field this morning for its first day of training camp.

Ditka watched as the coaches put the 37 players through both individual and team drills in preparation for the season which begins January 29, on the road at Colorado.

After practice was over, Ditka took time to address the team and spoke of the commitment it takes to win a championship.

"We have the most talent in camp that we have ever had," said Ditka. "But it takes more than talent. It takes a commitment from each of the players - not only to each other but to the coaches as well. It's about working hard and believing in each other and making an effort to be the best.

"Nobody ever remembers the teams that finish second, but to be a part of a championship team is something you will remember the rest of your life."

As Ditka spoke to the team he also added a few thoughts on the state of football today as compared to when he played.

"As the season starts I ask you to work hard and play the game the right way," he said. "When you score a touchdown there is no need to shove the ball in someone else's face, or do a dance or any of that other (stuff).

"And when you make a great hit, help them up. Don't stand over them and taunt them. Nothing is more intimidating than making a great hit and then helping someone up."

Having said his piece Ditka left the payers with one final thought.

"Let's plan to be in Las Vegas this June for ArenaBowl XX.
