Soul Announce 'Out with the Soul, Champions for Equality' Event

PHILADELPHIA (February 27, 2014) - The back to back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul announce "Out with the Soul, Champions for Equality" an event to help raise awareness and show support for the LGBT community. The awareness event is scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at the Wells Fargo Center during the Soul's game vs. the New Orleans VooDoo, kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Awareness initiatives for the night will include: Rally towels distributed throughout the seating bowl designed to display LGBT rainbow colors, Soul players' and coaches' uniforms will prominently display the LGBT rainbow colors, The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus will perform the national anthem, the Greater Philadelphia Flag Football League will play an exhibition game on the Soul field during pregame, on-field presentations, special guests and more.

"My Co-Owners and I are so proud to bring this special LGBT Professional Football game to Philadelphia and a national TV Audience, with a message of openness and pride," said Soul Co-Owner Cosmo DeNicola.

"The LGBT community is very strong in Philadelphia and we believe our city is a leader in the country in supporting equality for this community," said Soul Chief Operating Officer John Adams. "We look forward to using the Wells Fargo Center and our national broadcast of the game on CBS Sports Network for a platform to show our support."

"I have had a great relationship with the Soul organization and am thankful for their willingness to be the first professional sports organization to show this level of support for the LGBT community," said prominent Philadelphia gay activist Mark Segal. "I am looking forward to this historic event and know the community and its' allies will show our support on May 10."
