Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - On Monday, April 9, as the Philadelphia Soul take on the Georgia Force, PHILADELPHIA READS will orchestrate a book drive for new or used books. The central focus of PHILADELPHIA READS is to have every child reading at or above grade level by the end of third grade. PHILADELPHIA READS works hard to fulfill this mission through a variety of programs, special initiatives, activities and resources. Previous book drives hosted by the Soul have been extremely successful in supplying children with materials to enhance literacy and learning.

Together PHILADELPHIA READS helps to strengthen the literacy skills of Philadelphia's youngest and neediest school children. PHILADELPHIA READS is a collaborative effort with the School District and Free Library of Philadelphia. It is an initiative of the Office of the Mayor and an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition
