SAN ANTONIO - Two-time WNBA All-Star Sophia Young will be at a San Antonio McDonald's, 11611 Bandera Rd., from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday to assist the local restaurant chain in celebrating World Children's Day.

World Children's Day supports Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), which helps more than 10,000 families a day through its 282 Ronald McDonald Houses in 33 countries. From Nov. 10 to Nov. 20, McDonald's customers can purchase and write their names on a paper hand for $1 with all proceeds going to RMHC. The hands are displayed in the restaurant. On Nov. 20, $1 from the sale of every extra value meal also goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Young will meet fans and sign autographs at the event. A two-time WNBA All-Star, Young earned first-team All-WNBA and All-Defensive Team honors this season after helping the Silver Stars to a Western Conference title and their first WNBA Finals appearance. The Most Outstanding Player at the 2005 Final Four after guiding Baylor to its first National Championship, Young recently had her college jersey retired.
