Eagles face Johnstown at Pullar Stadium this weekend
After a rare weekend off, the Soo Eagles resume action this Friday and Saturday night, when they host the Johnstown Tomahawks at Pullar Stadium. Game time both nights is 7:30 and tickets are available at the Pullar box office or online at www.sooeagles.net.
Game Notes: Johnstown is currently eight points behind the first place Soo Eagles in the North American Hockey League's North Division, with the Eagles holding two games in hand.
These two teams have met each other already five times this season, with the Eagles holding a 3-2 series lead. The Eagles won a pair of games at Pullar Stadium in October, with Jamestown winning two of the three games played at the War Memorial. These two teams will meet one more time during the regular season, on February 2.
Former Soo Eagles goaltender, Chris Truehl returns to Pullar Stadium, sporting a 10-6-4 record, with a 2.39 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. Truehl will play hockey at the Air Force Academy next season.
The Eagles hold the best 1-2 goaltender tandem in the league with Tyler Marble and Zach Nagelvoort. Marble, who will play at Lake Superior State University next season, comes into the weekend, with a sparkling 17-5-2 record with a 2.30 GAA and .940 SV%. Nagelvoort is 9-5-1 with a 2.24 GAA and .929 SV%.
The Eagles are tough to beat at home, as they have a 14-3-1 record at Pullar Stadium. The Eagles currently are riding a nine game home winning streak, with their last defeat at the Pullar coming over two months ago, on November 17. The Tomahawks are 8-7-5 on the road this season.
Two other players this weekend have committed to Division 1 college hockey programs. Eagles forward, Denver Pierce will play his college hockey at Northern Michigan University, while Johnstown's Ian Spencer will play his college hockey at the University of Vermont.

Special Events this weekend: On Friday, there will be a fundraiser for fundraiser for Nick Watson. Nick is a Cheboygan high school goaltender, who sustained a life changing injury during hockey game.
