Soo Eagles News Release

About one-third of the campaign is left to be played in the 2012-2013 North American Hockey League regular season.

The push is on for positioning and in the North Division of the NAHL, Soo Eagles are holding on to a two-point lead over Jamestown Ironmen atop the standings.

Meantime, Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings and Johnstown Tomahawks are four points apart for third and fourth places and there are just eight points separating Port Huron Fighting Falcons, Springfield Jr. Blues, Janesville Jets and Michigan Warriors.

Soo Eagles are on break from the grind of the NAHL schedule until the January 25-26 weekend when they will play host to the Johnstown Tomahawks in a pair of 7:30 p.m. games at Pullar Stadium.

The Eagles, in their first NAHL season after four years in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, are perched atop the North Division standings with 55 points from a record of 26-10-3.

The Eagles record is all-the-more-impressive considering they began the 2012-2013 season with an 0-3-1 mark.

"I like where we're at," Eagles coach-general manager Bruno Bragagnolo said evenly. "We've worked hard to be where we are at."

No games in the highly-competitive, eight-team North Division are easy ones and the standings are close.

At present, the Eagles and their 55 points are good enough for a tight two-point lead over the second-place Jamestown Ironmen. Jamestown, however, holds two games in hand on the Eagles.

The Eagles just returned from a three-game, weekend road trip, playing twice at Jamestown and once in Johnstown. The Michiganders began with a 7-3 win over Jamestown before losing to the Ironmen 3-2 and then getting tuned 6-2 by Johnstown.
