Players: Colleges and University Athletics

This is the time of the year colleges and universities begin making offers to prospective hockey players. Eagle players have attended colleges and played hockey in past years. It appears that changing to the North American Hockey League this year has opened up the opportunities for our players. This year Coach Bruno has become the go to Coach for prospective players. As of January 17th, the team has sent information on players to 16 different universities and colleges. This is only the number requesting information on multiple players. Several other universities have made direct contact with individual players.
Our players are being look at by both excellent D1 and D 3 schools. Michigan schools looking at our Eagles include: Lake Superior State, Northern Michigan, and Adrian College. Other schools include West Point, Princeton, University of Alabama, Huntsville, several of the State University of New York schools, Middlebury College, Holy Cross. Almost daily new schools are contacting Coach Bruno for information on our boys.
The college selection process includes: gather names of promising players and contacting their coach. Then the schools collect information on the players including contact information, high school grades, ACT or SAT test scores. Coaches speak with the prospective players. If the player is interested in the college or university, the player completes an on line application to the school. More discussion with the player and their parents continues. If a player is seriously interested in the school then an official visit to the school is scheduled. The school makes an offer of academic or athletic scholarship. The last step is the player signing a letter of intent to play at the school.
Look for information on college and university decisions in the next few months. Our players will have exciting opportunities.
