
Solensky Garners Star of the Week Honors

JOHNSTOWN - After a record-setting weekend, the Johnstown Tomahawks, in conjunction with the North American Hockey League, announced Monday that forward Sam Solensky has been named the Bauer East Division Star of the Week for the week ending Oct. 28.
Solensky earned seven points (one goal, six assists) in a two-game home sweep of the Northeast Generals.
The Michalovce, Slovakia native surpassed Tomahawks alumnus Casey Linkenheld's franchise assists mark with a four-assist performance in an 8-1 win against the Generals on Saturday, Oct. 27. He also chipped in a goal, his ninth, in the victory.
He followed Saturday's game with a two-assist effort in a dramatic 5-4 shootout comeback win for the Tomahawks.
"We were fortunate to get two wins on home ice this weekend, and Sammy was instrumental in both wins," head coach Mike Letizia said. "His ability to be create offense not only for himself but also his teammates was special. That is one of his biggest assets is that he not only can produce for himself but he makes those around him better. We look for him to continue to be a huge part of our team."
The Tomahawks return to the road on Thursday, Nov. 1 for an afternoon contest at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 2:30 p.m.
Johnstown is back on home ice on Friday, Nov. 9 for the start of Military Appreciation Weekend against the Maryland Black Bears. All active duty and veterans may receive a free ticket at the gate with presentation of a valid Military ID. Saturday, Nov. 10 is also the team's traditional Scout Night.
