Austin, TX - The Independent Women's Football League is proud to announce the SoCal Bandits have been awarded an X Team license and will join the leagues growing roster of teams for the 2005 season. The Bandits will be placed in the highly competitive IWFL Western Conference.

"After seven long, exhausting months of organizing and practicing, we're just ecstatic over the chance to participate in the IWFL. It has been a challenge worth achieving. We look forward to elevating the competition throughout the league and we are committed to spreading the unity we share within our team across the IWFL. Southern California has already shown a great interest in women's team sports and we look forward to being able to become roll models and mentors to the next generation of women's football." said Bandits owner Michielle Garcia.

The SoCal Bandits will call the Lake Elsinore/Temecula area home during their first season of play in the IWFL. They will compete against teams from Arizona and California as they establish themselves in Riverside County.

"The Bandits have a fiercely dedicated group of players and staff. They've been training hard this past year preparing to take the field this spring," said IWFL Chief Operating Officer Kezia Disney," that kind of determination and commitment will serve them well when they begin competition. I expect this team to be very tough." Founded in 2000, the IWFL is a member organization of team owners created to support the new sport of women's tackle football. The IWFL enables its member teams to function independently, focusing on their local markets while combining resources and strategies for the successful marketing and promotion of women's football.

The IWFL is home to the most successful and talented teams in the United States. New teams undergo extensive background checks and interviews before being admitted to the league. This process ensures the level of play remains high for the fans and enables the IWFL to continue to set the standard as America's number one women's football league
