Sobkowiak Holds Up Mavericks Offense

On a cold rainy night at Marinelli Field, Scott Sobkowiak showed signs of brilliance and the Rockford offense finally woke up. Sobkowiak tossed seven strong innings and the RiverHawks put together a twelve hit display to defeat Mid-Missouri 9-0. Sobkowiak (1-2) only gave up two hits and struck out ten, while walking none. The RiverHawk bats began its downpour of offense in the third as they put together four runs. The inning began with a Kiley Vaughn single, Ben Fjelland doubled, Trevor Hall singled, and then Tony Pigott hit a three-run bomb over the left field fence. The RiverHawks scored again in the fifth and then three more in the eighth. Grant Dorn (1-1) picked up the loss for Mid-Missouri as he gave up six runs and eight hits. Dan Urban went 3-for-4 for Rockford with a RBI.

Rockford will now travel to Kenosha for a three-game set. Barton Vaughn (1-1) will get the start for Rockford . The RiverHawks will be back at home on Friday, June 6, against River City.
