Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

The Waterloo Black Hawks visited Cedar Rapids Ice Arena for the final time during the regular season, falling to the Rough Riders 5-3 Friday.

The Rough Riders scored twice in the middle stages of the opening period, and Waterloo never fully recovered. Tom Healy found the net for his first Black Hawk goal, unassisted, after swiping a puck in the Cedar Rapids zone and flipping it to the top, short-side corner. A late Cedar Rapids goal made the score 3-1 at the first intermission.

Brett Olson scored the only goal of the second period during a five-on-three power play.

The Rough Riders went back ahead by two scores early in the third, until a Chad Billins power play goal brought Waterloo back within one. An empty-netter sealed the Cedar Rapids win.

The Black Hawks return to home ice Saturday against the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets for Swiss Valley Farms Kids Night. All children 12 and under will get in for free by presenting a Swiss Valley Farms milk cap. Stay after the game to skate with the Hawks.
