Utah Snowbears News Release

Three hours, 71 fouls, 75 free throw attempts and an ejection later, Utah won their 25th game of the season, 118-104 over the Los Angeles Stars. Clay Tucker and Curtis Millage regrouped the distracted Snowbears in the third period to lead Utah to a win in a game that could have easily slipped away due to a let down. The officiating didn't help either team, as endless whistles and foul calls kept the game going with endless play stoppage and heated conversation.

Los Angeles started well behind Will Burr and his 11 first quarter points. Darwin Carter added 8 points as the Stars led 25-22. Burr continued his hot shooting in the second adding 8 points and finished the half with 19 points. Clay Tucker got Utah going with 12 points and Curtis Millage added 6 off the bench as Utah regained the lead with a 14-2 run late in the quarter. Utah led 59-48 at the half.

The third quarter started off all Utah, but Nate Driggers was hit with a technical and L.A. rode Burr and his 13 points in the quarter to cut Utah's lead. Two three pointers by Kevin Richardson helped cut Utah's lead to 78-77 after three periods. The fourth quarter looked like it had the makings of a Utah rout. The officiating made sure that the game was interesting if nothing else.

Utah ran off 12 straight points to start the quarter, behind Millage and Tucker. Harold Arceneaux took a feed from Tucker and was fouled by Bruce Zabukovec on a hard foul. Arceneaux was immediately ejected for almost elbowing Zabukovec, and Richardson jumped in and was hit with a technical for joining the situation. Darwin Carter and Burr got hot from there and cut Utah's lead to 8 before Nate Driggers and Tucker closed the game out for its competitive phase with 6 points each. Utah 11th man Nick Francis hit 6 free throws, a lay up and a three point basket in the final minutes to end up with 11 points.

Tucker led Utah with 29 points, while Millage finished with 25. Driggers added 16, Arceneaux had 15, Francis 11 for the 25-1 Snowbears. Burr led all scorers with 38 points while Darwin Carter added 25 points for the 12-10 Stars.

Utah will face Las Vegas on the road February 26th. the game can be heard on the Snowbears web site at www.utahnsowbears.net, and on KMRI 1550 AM radio in Salt Lake City.
