November 2, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) and VRCA Records today announced that it has signed the incredible Snoop Dogg to headline the ABA Red, White and Blue Concert Tour. The tour is scheduled to include 40 ABA cities starting with one in Anderson, Indiana at the legendary Wigwam on Saturday, December 15th in association with the ABA Anderson Champions. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Paul Allsup, who has been heading up ABA Entertainment, has been working closely with Shabazz Entertainment in New York to line-up top artists to participate in the concert series and we couldn't be more pleased to have one of the great legends in rap/hip hop - Snoop Dogg. He is a remarkable young man who has accomplished so much in the music and entertainment industry as well as tremendous work with kids. We're very pleased and proud to be associated with him and will make this concert series something very special for our fans."
"VRCA Records is very excited that Snoop Dogg is such a huge part of the launching of our the ABA Red, White and Blue Concert Tour," stated Paul Allsup, VRCA CEO and ABA VP of Entertainment. "Our fans wanted something really big and they don't come much bigger than the incredible Snoop Dogg."
Snoop Dogg will be accompanied by newcomer Lamar Robinson. Shabazz Entertainment CEO Shabazz was quoted as saying "this new kid we have in the organization is the next huge soul and R & B artist on the market. Check out his website at www.myspace.com/lamarrobinson. He'll be worth the price of admission alone. And we have quite a few additional acts to make the kick-off of the concert tour something special that people will long remember."
Iconic in stature and in essence, Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. (aka Snoop Dogg) has carved out a permanent place in musical history. Undeniably, the rapper, producer, actor, entrepreneur, coach, husband and father has performed the most unique balance act that hip hop has ever witnessed. Never short on vision, drive or ambition, the C-walking, sharptalking wordsworth has managed to redefine and reinvent himselve over the course of his fifteen year career, each time revealing a distinctive cache from the depths within. His rhythmic cadences are classic in nature and his demeanor is as laid back and effortless as the brand extensions he has created for himself.
Offstage, he is also known as Coach to approximately 2500 kids in 10 local chapters throughout California for the Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL), a cause dear to his heart. As owner of the league, he subsidizes approximately $2,000,000 million dollars annually to create extra carricular activities for children who may not otherwise have them in the hopes of boosting their self esteem.
