Snohomish County Explosion News Release
Monroe, WA. - April 24th, 2009 -
With only a few tickets remain for Saturday's game between the Snohomish County Explosion and Bellingham Slam the Monroe Sports Arena is about to make history. The first game of the Explosion season was a sell and with and just 140 tickets remaining for the May 2nd game against Japan a three game sell out could have the Explosion organization jumping into the record books.
Sean Keck, the Explosions' General Manager, said Friday the game is "effectively a sellout" and only "sporadic inventory" remains available. "We're very close to a sellout," Keck said. "If fans want tickets, I would suggest no later than today to grab tickets online or call the box office." All General Admission seats have been sold out, Keck said. "The best spot to get these remaining tickets are on the team's Web site with reserved seating still at just $8.00 per ticket. Families might not travel, but they've got to do something, and local sports seem to be that great alternative."
The Explosion Organization is looking to make minor league basketball history if they can sell out three (3) consecutive home games in a row. The Explosion staff has spent time searching every basketball resource on minor league basketball sell outs. The last sell out was the Augusta Groove of the PBL in January of 2009, and before that the 2008 IBL Championship game in Bellingham.
Unlike minor league baseball, minor league basketball sell outs have been very sporadic and for consecutive game sell outs you have to go back to the CBA in the 70's to get back to back sell out games. There is no recorded history of a three game consecutive sellout in minor league basketball and the Snohomish County Explosion is just 200 tickets away from making this happen.
