Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Monroe, Washington - June 5th 2009 - In Minor League sports there are two type of players: One plays in the Minor Leagues for many years, and the other moves up quickly from team to team. Richard Ford is that second type of player, he very much wanted to finish up the season with the Explosion but it was best for him and his family to move forward with this offer to play at a higher level.

Ford leaves the Explosion as the all time Explosion rebound leader with 161 rebounds in a season, and will most likely finish the season in the top ten for the IBL for scoring and rebounds. Ford is currently fourth in the current IBL season in rebounds at 13.3 per game while in scoring he is ranked seventh at 25.3 points per game. "Ford was a great person both on and off the court and was a true community leader." said Sean Keck general manager of the Explosion.

Richard Ford received top honors last weekend with 35 points and 15 rebounds enough to close the deal overseas. "Ford was a great asset, and his talent was recognized, with an offer to accept immediately, We wish him the best and look forward to watching his career grow." commented head coach Chris Weakley

The Explosion are currently 6-6 on the season and they look forward to playing the Japanese Tornados with an IBL scheduling change. The young talented team have eight games left in the season and tickets can still be purchased online at www.explosionbasketball.net or via the phone at 425-339-BALL.
