Smush Parker's Double-Double Leads Florida to 94-92 Win Over Fayetteville

FORT MYERS, FL - Smush Parker scored a game-high 23 points and dished out 11 assists as the Florida Flame (16-29) defeated the Fayetteville Patriots 94-92 in front of a season-high 2,702 fans at Germain Arena. The win marks the third straight for the Flame as they now move into fifth place in the latest NBDL standings. Fayetteville (15-29) was paced by David Young's team-high 20 points.

Fayetteville broke out to an early 29-17 lead in the first quarter behind the solid play of Omar Cook and David Young who each scored 8 points in the period.

Florida fought back in the second quarter, shooting a blistering 73-percent from the floor. Sparked by a 16-4 run midway through the period, the Flame took their first lead of the game on a Tim Pickett 3-pointer with 2:01 remaining in the period. Fayetteville ended the half leading by one 53-52.

Florida turned on the defensive pressure in the third, holding Fayetteville to 25-percent shooting as the Flame pushed their lead to five points, 71-66.

The Flame built their lead to nine points, their largest of the game, on a Hiram Fuller jump shot with 2:24 to play in the fourth. Fayetteville closed the gap to two points with 40.9 seconds left, but could get no closer as the Flame earned a hard-fought victory.

All five starters scored in double figures in the loss for the Patriots. Tang Hamilton (18 points and 14 rebounds) and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje (10 points and 14 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles for Fayetteville. Omar Cook added 19 points, eight assists and nine rebounds.

Hiram Fuller posted 14 points, Kirk Haston and Jeff Aubry each added 13 and Tim Pickett scored 12 for the Flame.

Florida has now won eight of their last 11 games.

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday at Germain Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
