Smokies Offer Fans Opening Night Tickets for $1

KODAK, Tenn. - In 1911, the Knoxville Appalachians were officially recognized by the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues. Throughout the 2011 season, the Tennessee Smokies will be celebrating 100 years of professional baseball in East Tennessee. Kicking off our "Century of Memories" campaign, the Smokies are giving fans the "Deal of the Century!" For 100 hours, fans can purchase a $10 ticket to the Smokies' opening night (April 13) game for only 100 cents ($1.00).

Fans will be able to purchase the $1 tickets on the team's web site at www.smokiesbaseball.com, at the Smokies ticket office or by calling (865) 286-2300 beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27th. The "Deal of the Century" will end at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31st.

The Smokies will bring a wealth of entertainment to fans all season long. The Smokies will feature 14 of the best fireworks shows in Minor League Baseball, including three straight nights of fireworks shows (July 1-3) celebrating the Fourth of July. Each show, produced by LaFollette, TN based Pyro Shows, throughout the season will be choreographed to a different musical genre, based on that night's game theme.

Giveaway nights are a staple within the Minor League Baseball experience all around the country, and the Smokies are no different. The Smokies have ten separate giveaway nights planned in 2011. Highlighting the giveaways will be a Starlin Castro Bobblehead on April 30. This will be the very same bobblehead given to fans at Wrigley Field by the Chicago Cubs on April 5th.

In addition to the great promotions, the Smokies will play host to some of the nation's best performers. "The Hippest Nerd in da' Biz" Myron Noodleman (June 18 & July 23) along with the ZOOperstars (August 13) will be at Smokies Park to entertain the fans of East Tennessee. Smokies Park will also play host to four post-game concerts, including Dove Award winning Sidewalk Prophets.

The Smokies will kick off their 100-year celebration on April 13, as they play host to the Montgomery Biscuits. First pitch is slated for 7:15 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.smokiesbaseball.com, at the Smokies ticket office or by phone at (865) 286-2300.
