
Smokies End First Half with Series Win over Chattanooga

Kodak, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies (37-32) ended the first half of the season with a 7-1 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (34-35) Sunday afternoon at Smokies Stadium. Tennessee finished second in the Southern League North for the first half, five games over .500 and at least 4.5 games outside of Rocket City for first place.
Outfielder Alexander Canario finished with three hits, including a pair of home runs, in the series finale. He went deep in both the second and sixth innings, bringing his total to 10 homers with the Smokies. Infielder Jake Slaughter extended his hit-streak to a season-high 11 games as he also went deep off Connor Curlis (L, 2-5).
On the mound, RHP Peyton Remy (W, 5-2) earned his second win of the series, as he went five innings and surrendered a single run while striking out five. Max Bain pitched a perfect inning in relief in his return from the Injured List, and the Smokies clinched the series-win against Chattanooga.
The Smokies will open the second half of the season Tuesday night at Smokies Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. ET when the Smokies send RHP Anderson Espinoza (0-4, 8.22) to the mound.
