Smokies catcher Kevin Cash promoted to Syracuse

Sevierville, TN -- The Tennessee Smokies announced today that catcher Kevin Cash has been promoted to Triple A Syracuse. The Smokies leading hitter, Cash led the Southern League in RBI (44) at the time of his promotion. He was also among league leaders in extra base hits and runs scored. Cash threw out 42% of the runners who attempted to steal against him.
Umbria has spent the majority of the 2002 season at High A Dunedin, where he hit .388 in 18 games with the Blue Jays. He also appeared in four games at Syracuse, hitting .333. The 24-year old from Barquisimeto, Venezuela is in his 7th year of professional baseball.
