Jacksonville scored two runs each in the fourth and eighth innings, dumping the Diamond Jaxx 5-1 Tuesday afternoon. The loss stopped a four-game winning streak and ended a 12-game road trip. The Jaxx (29-29) were 8-4 on their longest trek of the season.
Righty Wilton Chavez (0-1) took the loss. After three scoreless innings to start the game, he allowed the first two men he faced in the in the fourth inning to reach and score on an Eric Riggs sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Mike Collins.
The Diamond Jaxx pulled within one in the top of the sixth inning. Dennis Abreu singled, took second with a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single by David Kelton.
Jacksonville's Randy Leek (1-0) was the starter and winner, allowing just one run in six innings. The Suns answered with a run of their own in the sixth and Jaxx reliver Ferenc Jongejan allowed two Suns runs in the eighth, stopping the bullpen's scoreless streak at 24 innings.
The Jaxx return home to begin a four-game series with Orlando at Pringles Park Thursday night. RHS Matt Bruback (3-2, 3.00) is the probable starter. Anita's Travel Station, Old Hickory Mall and Thomas Media present Baseball BINGO at the Big Chip that night.
