Louisville Fire News Release
FIRE DROPS CLOSE ONE: The Fire almost came all the way back from a 34-14 deficit Saturday night in Quad City but fell just short, losing 47-41. Offensively Matthew Sauk threw for six touchdowns and Rob Mager and Dennis Fryzel both continued their consistent play on offense catching three and two touchdown passes respectively. Defensively Nathan Loughran made an impressive debut with seven tackles and one pass deflection in the secondary.
TRAVELING SOUTH: The Fire will head to Birmingham this weekend for a rematch with the Steeldogs. The Fire defeated the Steeldogs 48-46 on April 30 in Freedom Hall. Last time the Fire went to Birmingham they defeated the Steeldogs 40-37 on a last second field goal in 2003. The game will kick-off at 8:00 P.M. and can be heard on 1080-WKJK starting at 7:50 P.M. with Paul Wilman.
THE CHASE FOR 300: Matthew Sauk threw six touchdown passes at Quad City on Saturday night, giving him 291 for his career. Leaving him just nine short of 300 touchdown passes for his career. At his current pace Sauk should reach the 300 mark either against Green Bay on June 18 or at Albany on June 25.
OFFENSE: The Fire is currently leading the league in pass offense with 2,404 yards though nine games. The Fire is also leading in pass offense per game averaging 267.1 yards a game.
