FRIDAY, JUNE 3

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers 38, GREEN BAY BLIZZARD 24 (Attendance: 3,072)

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (5-4) ended a two-game skid defeating the Green Bay Blizzard (6-3) 38-24 at the Resch Center. The Pioneers depended on their defense to come out ahead against the Blizzard, forcing three turnovers on downs and two interceptions. Jamie Hattley recorded 11 total tackles to lead the Pioneers while Thomie Venisee intercepted two passes. As a team the Pioneers broke up eight total passes and blocked one kick. On offense Rocco Forgione caught five passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. For Green Bay Troy Mason and Lance Taylor both caught touchdown passes. The Pioneers are now tied with Louisville who are both one game behind Green Bay in the East Division.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

ALBANY CONQUEST 68, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings 53 (Attendance: 4,354)

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Albany Conquest (3-6) stayed in the playoff race with a 68-53 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (2-7) at the Pepsi Arena. D Bryant had a big game for the Conquest. He completed 26-of-37 passes for 336 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed seven times for 14 net yards and two touchdowns. Jeremiah Pope caught 11 passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns for the Conquest. Manwell Talbert caught eight passes for 75 yards and three touchdowns. For the Battle Wings Tim Hicks completed 18-of-30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for three more scores. Reggie Perkins caught eight passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns. The key moment in the game came when Albany took a 28-23 lead with 2:51 remaining in the first quarter. Albany then attempted and recovered an onside kick. The Conquest moved down field and scored a touchdown just as the first half ended. The Conquest took a 34-23 lead at halftime and extended it to a 40-23 after taking the first possession of the second half down the field for a touchdown.

MANCHESTER WOLVES 74, Macon Knights 49 (Attendance: 6,528)

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Wolves (8-1) won their eighth game in a row defeating Macon (3-6) 74-49 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Wolves' quarterback Jake Eaton was on target all night, completing 22-of-28 passes for 311 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Eaton also rushed for one touchdown. The main beneficiary of Eaton's passing prowess was J.J McKelvey. McKelvey, af2's leading receiver, caught nine passes for 123 yards and six touchdowns. The game was close for three quarters till Manchester took control, scoring 32 of the game's final 40 points. The Manchester defense forced five fumbles. Jamaal Garman and Kendrick Lee both caught two touchdowns for the Knights. Lionel Hayes threw for five touchdowns and rushed for another.

FLORIDA FIRECATS 56, Birmingham Steeldogs 40 (Attendance 5,122)

ESTERO, Fla. - The Florida Firecats (8-1) stayed tied with Manchester for the best record in the American Conference with a 56-40 victory over the Birmingham Steeldogs (1-8) at Germain Arena. The game was close throughout till Florida forced a turnover on downs by Birmingham early in the fourth quarter. The Steeldogs' Detronn Harris caught 12 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 54 yards for a touchdown and blocked a kick on defense that lead to a safety for the Steeldogs. For Florida, Kelly Snell intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. Magic Benton caught six passes for 106 yards and four touchdowns. Chris Wallace completed 18-of-32 passes for 230 yards and eight touchdowns with one interception.

Memphis Xplorers 35, ARKANSAS TWISTERS 33 (Attendance: 5,949)

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas Twisters (1-8) fought back from a 21-0 deficit to get within two points, but the Memphis Xplorers (8-1) came out on top 35-33 at Alltel Arena. Memphis quarterback Brian Jones threw for one touchdown and rushed 10 times for 41 net yards and three touchdowns. Kevin Prentiss caught Memphis' only touchdown pass. He had seven total catches for 122 yards. Newly acquired Kevin Feterik came in and completed 12-of-17 passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed once for a 13-yard touchdown. Robert Kilow caught seven passes for 57 yards and one touchdown. He also returned two missed field goals 41 yards and six kickoffs 171 yards. Dahnel Singfield recorded an interception and recovered a fumble on defense. Khreem Smith had one sack.

AMARILLO DUSTERS 69, South Georgia Wildcats 63 (Attendance: 3,703)

AMARILLO, Texas. - The Amarillo Dusters moved to 6-3 with a 69-63 victory over the South Georgia Wildcats (2-7) at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Dusters rushed for seven total touchdowns with quarterback Adrian Reese rushing for four touchdowns and passed for another. Reese rushed for 31 yards on seven carries, Dewayne Miles rushed for 24 yards on four carries. Kendrick Walker returned an interception 49 yards for a TD and also returned a South Georgia two-point conversion attempt into two points for Amarillo. The Wildcats' Matt Burstein caught 11 passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns. Torrey Day caught six passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Starting quarterback Bobby Pesavento left the game in the fourth quarter due to an injury. Backup Brian Zbydniewski came in and threw four touchdowns.

OKLAHOMA CITY YARD DAWGZ 59, Rio Grande Valley Dorados 35 (Attendance: 5,111)

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (5-4) won their third straight game as they beat the Rio Grande Valley Dorados (5-4) 59-35 at the Ford Center. The Yard Dawgz defense was strong all night, forcing seven turnovers. Jeromy Flowers recorded 6.0 tackles (5UA 2A), recovered a fumble and intercepted two passes. Brandon Daniels caught a touchdown pass on offense. On defense he forced and recovered a fumble. Jarrail Jackson caught 11 passes for 178 yards and five touchdowns. For Rio Grande Valley, Dwight Counter caught nine passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Marquis Floyd and Travis McAlpine both caught a touchdown pass. The Dorados are now 4-1 when trailing at halftime this season.

QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS 47, Louisville Fire 41 (Attendance: 5,523)

MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Steamwheelers (4-5) ended a four-game losing streak with a 47-41 victory over the Louisville Fire (5-4) at The Mark of the Quad Cities. Quad City shutout the Fire in the second quarter as they jumped out to a 34-14 lead. Quad City quarterback Sam Clemons completed 22-of-35 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed five times for five yards and one touchdown. Jeff Hewitt caught eight passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Louisville's Rob Mager caught nine passes for 83 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned three kickoffs for 48 yards. Quad City's Matt Forbes recorded 8.0 tackles (6UA 4A), one interception and recovered one fumble.

SAN DIEGO RIPTIDE 59, Bakersfield Blitz 54 (Attendance: 2,864)

SAN DIEGO - Avenging two losses earlier in the season, the San Diego Riptide (3-6) defeated the Bakersfield Blitz (3-6) 59-54 at the ipayOne Center. San Diego's Asi Faoa led the Riptide defensive effort with three sacks for a loss of 22 yards, a forced and recovered fumble and pass break up. On offense Faoa rushed three times for 20 yards and one touchdown. Kane Claunch completed 15-of-24 passes for 265 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception. Bakersfield's one interception was by Alex Wallace, who is tied for the league lead with eight. San Diego's defense broke up 14 passes. Nian Taylor and Ryan Smith both caught three touchdown passes for San Diego. Bakersfield's Renna Reynolds caught nine passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns.

Tulsa Talons 54, CENTRAL VALLEY COYOTES 53 (Attendance: 2,638)

FRESNO, Calif. - In one of the most exciting games of the season, the Tulsa Talons (7-2) beat the Central Valley Coyotes (5-4) 54-53 at Selland Arena to stay in first place in the West Division. The Talons jumped out to a 34-10 lead. Then the Coyotes scored the next 28 points to take a 38-34 lead. Tulsa came back to life on a 54-yard Donovan Morgan kickoff return. The game went back and forth with the Coyotes' DeRonn Finley scoring with 16 seconds left to put his team up 53-46 with 22 seconds left. The Talons then responded on a 21-yard Robert Reed touchdown catch with no time remaining to pull within one. Then Josh Blankenship found Donovan Morgan on a two-point conversion to win the game. The Coyotes' George Williams caught 11 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns.
