FIRE FALLS AGAIN: The Fire dropped their second straight game on Saturday 65 â 49 to the Green Bay Blizzard. The loss drops the Fire's record to 4-2 on the season and drops them into a tie for second with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Fire was impressive on offense as Matt Sauk threw for six touchdowns and 342 yards. Rob Mager continued his outstanding play with 12 receptions for 136 yards and four touchdowns. Tony Stallings also had four carries for 24 yards and a touchdown and three receptions for 26 yards.
FINALLY HOME: The Fire will return home, after two straight weeks on the road, on May 21 to face the Florida Firecats (5-1). The Firecats are the defending af2 Champions. The Fire will also be giving away bobblehead dolls of WAMZ radio personality Coyote Calhoun. The Firecats suffered their first defeat of the 2005 season 28-22 to Bossier City. The Fire is 2-3 all-time against defending af2 Champions.
FAN SUPPORT: After two home games this season the Fire is currently first in attendance averaging 8,115 per game in Freedom Hall. The crowd of 9,151 that saw the Fire beat Birmingham on April 30 was a league high so far this season.
RECORD TYING PERFORMANCE: Fire lineman Demetrius Forney tied the Fire record for most games played as a member of the Fire on Saturday night at 45. This Saturday against Florida Forney will break Anthony Payton's record for most games played as a member of the Fire.
