Smith Honored by the AFL

TAMPA BAY - Storm defensive back Chris Smith was honored for his performance in a 48-45 win over the San Antonio Talons this past Friday night. The AFL announced that Smith was named the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of The Week. Storm wide receiver Amarri Jackson was nominated for the AFL MVP of the Week.

J. Lewis Small Playmaker of The Week: Smith (5-foot-10, 195 lbs., Northern Illinois) recorded five tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup in Tampa Bay's come-from-behind win over the San Antonio Talons in Week 2. Smith's second interception came at the goal line in the fourth quarter. It was a key stop that would prevent San Antonio from taking a commanding lead in the game. His fumble recovery occurred on the final play of the game that secured the win for the Storm.

AFL MVP of The Week: Storm wide receiver Amarri Jackson has been nominated for AFL MVP of the Week. Jackson caught the game-winning touchdown with four seconds left in the Storm's 48-45 victory over the San Antonio Talons. Fans will have 24 hours to vote. Voting opens on Wednesday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. EST, with the winner being announced Thursday, March 27.
